Skill refers to the things that you do well. The key to finding the most suitable job in the industry is to recognize your own skills and communicate the importance in writing and orally to the potential employer.
Most viable skills are those that are used in a variety of work settings. What are these skills? Will it be successful to match your skills to find the right job?
* Determine your skills. This will help you become a prime candidate for the job. A skill does not necessarily mean that it was adapted to the work environment. If this will be your first job search and you don’t have any job experience till date, you still have a chance in the industry.
Most skills, including knowledge-based and transferable, can be absorbed and developed as a volunteer, a student, a housewife, or in your other personal activities. The skills you used for these activities may still apply to the jobs you want.
Organizing and listing your personal skills can help you easily fill out job applications, provide useful information for job interviews, and create quality resumes.
First, you should classify skills by separating your interests and qualifications from your work experience.
1) Aptitude and interest. These include all of your hobbies, activities you’ve been involved in in the past, and anything else that interests you. By listing all of these below, you can examine the skills required to obtain each item.
Skills and interests can range from building houses, playing basketball, fixing cars, and more. All of these items can determine whether you are capable of working with a team, able to handle multiple tasks, have a practical knowledge of human development, knowledge of electronics, and the ability to diagnose mechanical and numerical problems. The list goes on, but be sure to consider skills that would be beneficial to the work environment.
2) Work History. This includes volunteer, part-time, freelance, summer and full time jobs. Once you’ve listed all of your previous jobs, examine the skills you have in each job duty.
* Asking for help. As soon as your list is ready, you can now go to job services that can help you in securing your desired job. You can also do job search yourself. However, always remember to match your skills and abilities to the skills and abilities required for different jobs on your list.
In most cases, job seekers are threatened by job titles. This should not be the case. As long as your skills and abilities can meet the requirements of the workload and job title, your chances of getting the job you want increase.
